Bad Breath Cures

A look at the causes and possible treatments for bad breath.

Having bad breath can be downright embarrassing. Noticing people turning their heads when you speak to them does not send a very good feeling.

The most confident and competent person can be reduced to nothing after this hurtling blow to their self esteem. The good news is that bad breath is quite treatable.

First of all, we have all had our bouts with bad breath in the past. Eating too many onions at lunch or waking up after a good night out can create orders that could stave off evil spirits. However, chronic or persistent bad breath could be signs of other more serious conditions. Many dental problems are linked with bad breath. Gingivitis, tooth abscesses and even periodontal disease. If your bad breath keeps up even after brushing then you should see your dentist to check for any of the before mentioned conditions.

Bad breath is totally treatable and quite often takes little time to sort out. The first rule of thumb when dealing with bad breath is to maintain good oral hygiene. Visit your dentist regularly so they can check for problems. They are the best source available for fighting bad breath as well as other dental problems. We all dread going but in the end it is worth it.

To avoid bad breath you should brush your teeth properly at least twice a day. Brushing reduces plaque and keeps the amount of bacteria in your mouth down. This is unsightly as well as smelly if left to build up. It can also lead to cavities, tooth decay, tartar and calculus building up.

To avoid bad breath you should also floss your teeth daily. This will help to remove food particles that get wedged between your teeth. Your tooth brush cannot reach these areas so brushing alone isn’t enough.

If left in your teeth, these food particles will attract bacteria and plaque. Bad breath and tooth decay are just some of the possible outcomes.

Something that is helpful in stopping bad breath is mouth rinses. Make sure they are anti microbial or you’re just adding fuel to the fire. Bad breath and good oral hygiene cannot be achieved by only using mouth rinses. Quite often you are only hiding the odor. However, the brushing, flossing and rinsing can be highly effective.

Quite often we pay so much attention to our teeth and gums that we completely forget about our tongues. The tongue is a bacterial play ground. Its warm soft and germs love to hang out and multiply there. By scrapping your tongue every night before you go to bed, you can greatly reduce the amount of bacteria build up. This will help greatly in the fight against bad breath as well as tooth decay.

Any bad habits such as smoking and chewing tobacco should be stopped. By using these products you are drying out the mouth. This allows the opportunity for decay to increase making bad breath even more of a possibility. Smoking and other tobacco products also leave behind their own lingering odors. They make bad breath worse.

People who suffer from dry mouth are particularly vulnerable to bad breath. The elderly suffer from this due to the amount of medications that they are on. Dentists can recommend salvia substitutes for this problem. However drinking plenty of water is the most effective cure.

For those that want to take a more natural approach to fighting bad breath, there are several options available. One thing you could try is eating raw vegetables. These have natural cleaning abilities and help remove plaque from teeth. This reduces the amount of bacteria in your mouth and the chances for odors building up.

You could also try eating parsley or other leafy green vegetables. These are stuffed full of chlorophyll which is a natural breath freshener. They are also additional health benefits included.

By putting peppermint or tea tree oil on your tooth brush and giving your mouth a good once over, you be giving your teeth and gums a good cleaning and using one of the most effective natural breath fresheners. These are naturally refreshing as well as contain several antibacterial properties.

Finally, using baking soda can be very effective in the fight against bad breath. It can also be used as a natural tooth cleaner.

Bad breath can be unpleasant and embarrassing. The most confident person can quickly be reduced to tears if you point out that they have dragon breath. Fortunately, bad breath can be treated without highly evasive measures. First you must check to see if the bad breath isn’t an underlying cause of something more serious. If it isn’t then good oral hygiene with natural breath fresheners should do the trick.
